I think I’m falling in love with this Tara…

The only reason I’m not is because it’s making me not like Pam’s actions towards her. I’m legit upset at how mean Pam is to her.. it’s buggin me :(

I just want them to connect and be friends and stuff! Why does Pam gotta act like she’s her dog?! Huh?! That isn’t nice!

Let’s be honest, Tara is difficult. She has a problem with authority and is disobedient and disrespectful, which is not acceptable in a new vampire because they are very dangerous and have trouble controlling themselves. Tara puts on an attitude like she knows everything, but really she knows nothing. Pam believes in tough love. She’s not a cuddler. And frankly, I don’t think Tara would have trusted any open affection or kindness from Pam after her experience with Maryann, and Pam trying to kill her multiple times last season. Tara gets Pam, and Pam gets Tara. I believe as Tara and Pam get used to other better, they will have a more amicable relationship, but right now they are basically fighting for the top.

True Blood is like an advanced course in being suspicious of people who are “too nice.” Season one Bill, Mary Anne, Daphne, Crystal, Amy, Lorena, Steve and Sarah Newlin—all of these characters seemed innocuous at first. Then we discovered just how wrong we were. The best relationships on the show often start off hostile, or rife with misunderstanding. 

Pam is also, in her own inimitably bitchy way, trying to protect Tara. When Tara feeds on that blonde girl, Pam stops her and tells her never to feed off a human where the Authority can see her. We discovered in season 4 that it’s Authority policy to kill any vampire caught feeding on humans, even consensually. Tara could wind up a pile of goo for what she did. Harsh as she is, Pam is protecting Tara

This. And I’m sure that Pam is going to soften towards Tara… a little. And in her own way. She is already softening.

Eric’s suggestion in season 1. You have to firm with them or they will walk all over you. I think Pam knows this. We are talking about Pam. Don’t judge her actions by human standards. These are vampires. Very dangerous creatures at best. They will learn to tolerate and come to love each other. Eventually.
